One Year On: A Year of Lockdown
Monday 23rd March 2020 is a date that many will always remember as the day that the UK went into the first national lockdown. That day, almost a whole year ago now, turned the lives of millions of us upside down.
It may have been an entire year since we entered our first national lockdown, but looking after yourself and others is still as important now as it ever was. In that year, Bath Mind have:
- Taken over 2,200 evening crisis calls
- Helped prevent 225 potential suicides with our crisis line
- Provided over 2,000 regular befriending calls
- Provided over 400 hours of 1:1 remote counselling sessions
- Saved the NHS over £224,000 with our step-down residential care
- Facilitated over 150 hours of youth-specific peer support
And so much more.
Before Breathing Space I was lost – I had no self-esteem or confidence. Now I can hold my head up and I have the strength to continue life, find a job and feel like living.
Looking After your Wellbeing
We’d like to encourage you to take some time for your mental health and wellbeing today. If you’re looking for inspiration, take a look at our Wellbeing Activities pages for ideas and tips: from free to access breathing exercises, to printable mindful colouring sheets.
With many of us hoping to see a reduction in COVID restrictions over the next few months, it’s important to remember that even the happy, much anticipated changes and re-adjustments can be also difficult for our mental health and wellbeing.
Just as it took us time to adapt to the beginning of lockdown in March 2020, it will take time to adjust back into pre-pandemic routines and activities. Our coronavirus mental health and wellbeing advice still stands for this coming out of lockdown period, as much as it did when the lockdown began.
What’s next for Bath Mind?
A year on, we still need your help. At a time when the UK’s mental health services were already stretched, the events of the last year have pushed more and more people to breaking point. So many feel isolated, unsure of where to turn for help.
We want to change that.
Will you share and support our donation appeal today and show people they have somewhere to turn?
Ways you can support Bath Mind 1 year on:
- Share this campaign to friends and family
- Set up a regular donation
- Give a one-off donation via text or our website
- Take a look and share our Wellbeing Activities pages
Together, we can make a difference. Together we can make sure that Bath Mind’s services are available for everyone who needs them, both during and beyond the pandemic.
