“At Bath Mind, we believe that mental health support must be accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse needs of all individuals. As the Chair of Trustees, I am proud to affirm our commitment to fostering a culture of equality, diversity, inclusion and equity (EDIE); both for those we serve and for those who work with us.
Mental health affects everyone, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance. However, the barriers to accessing support and the experiences of people who use mental health services can differ significantly depending on factors such as race, gender, age, disability, sexuality, and socio-economic status. Our mission is to ensure that “no mind is left behind”, and that every person, regardless of who they are or where they come from, can access the care and support they need to thrive.
Our commitment to EDIE is not just about ensuring fairness and equity in our services; it extends to our workplace as well. We recognise that a diverse and inclusive workforce not only reflects the communities we serve but also enhances the quality and effectiveness of the support we provide. By embracing different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, we create a richer, more empathetic environment where both staff and people who use our services can flourish.
As trustees, we are dedicated to ensuring that our policies, practices, and culture actively support EDIE in all aspects of our work. This means continuously reflecting on our actions, listening to the voices of those who may feel marginalised, and adapting to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.
We know that achieving true equality and inclusion requires ongoing effort and learning. We are committed to embedding these values in everything we do, so that everyone—whether service user, employee, or volunteer feels valued, supported, and empowered to be their authentic selves.
I would like to thank our staff, volunteers, and supporters for their dedication to this shared vision. Together, we will continue to create an environment where mental health care is not only effective but also fair, compassionate, and open to all.”

As an organisation that prioritises the mental health and wellbeing of all, we are determined to create meaningful and lasting equitable change across our charity.
At Bath Mind, it’s important that our staff and volunteers feel empowered to contribute to decision-making processes and co-produce solutions that promote inclusion and diversity within our organisation.
By amplifying the voices of our staff and volunteers, we strengthen our collective ability to champion EDIE initiatives and drive positive change both within our organisation and in the wider community.
We have active staff and volunteer networks for staff and volunteers including our Staff EDIE Network and our EDIE Managerial Working Group. New staff and volunteers are encouraged to ask questions and join if they’re interested.
Members of the network may identify as having a protected characteristic, as outlined by the Equality Act 2010. This could include being:
Or, having:
However, many of our network and working group members are keen allies and wish to know how to support their peers, colleagues, and clients in the best way possible.
Meeting monthly, both groups offer a safe and welcoming space to discuss topical issues and raise questions, concerns, or feedback on how we can strengthen our EDIE strategies at Bath Mind.
We also have three subgroups: the Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC), Neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ subgroups, which offer a safe space for peer support for staff and volunteers who identify as being a part of these respective communities
