Bath Mind currently manages one property in Bath and one in Chippenham, Wiltshire and offers one bedroom flats with minimum support provided to support each tenant towards moving to independent living. Support with ‘moving on’ to independent accommodation within two years is also provided. I’ve never had my own kitchen before. Now I have learnt to cook new recipes and have started inviting my friends round for dinner
Danny left home in Worthing, near Brighton at 14 and has never lived in his own flat before. He has faced years of homelessness and instability. He now lives in a flat in our minimum-support housing project. For the first time ever, Danny can invite friends round to his own space. He is working and leads a full and active life. He is presently preparing to take the next step. He will be working with the Bath Mind team to begin bidding on flats in the Bath area, and so that he can finally achieve stability in his life.
Danny worked hard to overcome the issues that had made his life journey difficult. Initially, he needed support with the transition to self-maintenance from challenges large and small, such as managing his tenancy and budgeting. We were able to signpost to specialist services and opportunities to help him succeed. Danny has benefited from a step-by-step approach, which has given him the confidence to feel able to live the life he has wanted to live.
