  7. Eco-Therapy: Greenlinks

I am not religious but I find this a very spiritual place.

What is Greenlinks?

Greenlinks is a community support group offering people with mental and physical health issues the opportunity to engage in gardening activities linked to the five ways to wellbeing (connect, be active, take notice, learn and give).

Contact with nature and physical activity in a facilitated, structured and safe way have given people therapeutic benefits. By increasing participation and awareness, our Greenlinks scheme has:

  • improved health and wellbeing for individuals
  • enabled resilience
  • helped build up an individual’s capacity to cope with life stresses
  • helped people move from social isolation to a place of having connections and friends

Alice Park Community Garden

Please note: this group is currently taking a short break whilst Bath Mind recruits a new horticultural manager.

Alice Park, Gloucester Road BA1 7BL

Alice Park Community Garden is a welcoming, established accessible garden within Alice Park, Larkhall, managed by volunteers. There is a café nearby, public toilets and free parking.

There are raised beds, a greenhouse, fruit trees, a seating area and pond. Keen gardeners are welcome but no prior experience is required: there will be a qualified horticulturalist to guide activities according to the weather and growing needs of the plants. There will also be practical opportunities to encourage wildlife, learn conservation and habitat management skills, seed saving and ‘planet-friendly’ gardening techniques throughout the year.

Participants are asked to give £2 per session to cover refreshments.

Greenlinks has joined the Community Garden’s Management Committee (part of Transition Larkhall) and is one of several voluntary sector organisations actively maintaining the gardens for public benefit.
