Staff Spotlight – Becki Fox
Welcome to the latest edition of our ‘Staff Spotlight’ series, where we delve into the dedicated individuals driving Bath Mind’s mission forward.
Can you tell us about your roles within Bath Mind’s fundraising team?
I manage the fundraising activity at Bath Mind which includes community and individual events and in-memory and legacy giving. In the photo above, you can see me with my colleague, Olivia, who who works with me in fundraising and is Bath Mind’s Fundraising and Engagement Coordinator.
One of my favourite parts of the job is thinking about new and fun ways to generate income through fun and engaging events and activities and, of course, supporting our brilliant community and corporate fundraisers with their events, they are always a source of inspiration!
What inspired you to join Bath Mind?
It is a brilliant and impactful local charity working hard to improve the lives of people in our community who are experiencing poor mental health and wellbeing. I wanted to be a part of the solution and am a passionate advocate for mental health and breaking the stigma that surrounds it.
Can you tell us about fundraising for Bath Mind and how people can get involved with this?
There are loads of ways you can fundraise for Bath Mind. You could take part in one of our online or in person events, organise your own community fundraiser with friends or at work, or even sign up to an individual challenge like a sky dive or bungee jump!
Our website has loads of fundraising tips and resources. Get in touch with us by emailing [email protected] if you’d like any support or would like to chat about a fundraising idea. We’d love to hear from you!
What’s the impact of someone fundraising for Bath Mind?
Your fundraising will help us to keep providing our accessible mental health services and wellbeing community groups across BaNES. Your donation helps to improve the lives of people who live in your community and promote good mental health and wellbeing for everyone.
Are there any challenges to working in fundraising?
I have worked for charities and NPOs in the south-west for the last 10 years and I can honestly say these are currently some of the most challenging times I’ve experienced. We are a reflection of the landscape we work in; years of cuts to services, a pandemic and a cost-of-living crisis means we have seen a steady decline in our income but a huge demand on our services. It’s a perfect storm.
You can help us navigate our way through these times by fundraising, volunteering and being an advocate and supporter of our work. Spread the word, get involved and help us keep providing our vital and important services.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Meeting our supporters and hearing about all the wonderful challenges and advocacy work they are doing in our community. I love meeting the people who use our services and seeing and hearing about how Bath Mind have helped them improve their lives, it’s inspiring!
