Bath Mind run a wide range of mental health services, however not all of our services are appropriate for crisis support. Our office phone line is open on Mon-Fri from 8am-4pm, but if you’re in need of immediate support with your mental health outside of these hours, there is still help available for you.

Mental health emergencies are serious. You’re not wasting anyone’s time.

Contact Breathing Space for Evening Support

Breathing Space is a face-to-face and telephone service offer a calm, non-clinical service, supporting individuals experiencing or at risk of a mental health crisis. 

Evening Telephone Support Line

The Breathing Space telephone line is open every evening between 5.30pm and 11.00pm. The support line can be reached by calling 0808 175 1369 where you will be offered calm, non-clinical support over the phone. 

Face-to-Face Service

Our face-to-face service is open every evening from 18:00-22:30 at Oasis Church, Fountain Buildings, Bath, BA1 5DU. 

If you want to use the service, you need to be referred/self-refer before 17:00 on the same day. You can do this by phoning (and leaving a message) on 0808 175 1369 or emailing [email protected]. You will be called between 17:00-18:00 to be told your space and time. Find out more about Breathing Space here.

Call 999

If you feel like you might attempt suicide, or may have seriously harmed yourself, you need urgent medical help. Please:

  • call 999 for an ambulance
  • go straight to A&E, if you can

Call or self-refer to book in a 1:1 chat about your mental health to find out how are services can help. Our Access Community Mental Health (ACMH) team help people to access the correct mental health support for them, and learn more about other services in the local community.

Contact your GP

If you have not spoken to a health professional about your mental health before, the first step in accessing ‘primary care’ is to contact your GP.

You can contact your GP surgery and ask for an emergency appointment

  • contact your local GP surgery. You can find GP surgeries on the NHS website. If the surgery is closed, you should hear a recorded message explaining what to do, or you can call 111 instead.
  • call 111, a free 24-hour NHS helpline that can help you access local services including GPs. Find out more about this service, including options for people with hearing difficulties, on the NHS website.

Contact the B&NES Community Wellbeing Hub

The Community Wellbeing Hub provides a central place for individuals living in B&NES to access a range of services that will help you stay safe and well and improve your health and wellbeing.

If you live in Bath and North East Somerset, you can contact the Community Wellbeing Hub to talk to our friendly, caring and discreet triage team of advisors who will give the advice and support you need.

The hub offer range of services to support you with:

  • Keeping active and healthy
  • Achieving a healthy weight
  • Accessing food, transport or medication
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Stopping smoking
  • Housing advice
  • Employment issues and advice

Contact your Community Mental Health Team

These teams are based at NHS House, Newbridge Hill, Bath. The Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) provide assessment and treatment for people living in the community who are experiencing severe mental health problems or difficulties. 

Self-refer to B&NES Talking Therapies

B&NES Talking Therapies supports people who are feeling low, anxious, stressed or worried. The service runs courses about improving wellbeing, and also offers one-to-one appointments either face-to-face or over the telephone.

Part of the Talking Therapies service is a Wellbeing Service for people with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, chronic pain, fibromyalgia and COPD. 

This service helps people to live well with their long-term health condition by supporting their psychological wellbeing and working together with physical health teams. 

Wellbeing Practitioners are located in GP Surgeries across B&NES. Patients can self-refer. To book an appointment or for more information please call the team on 01225 675150 or visit the website.
