I'm Chris White and I have been treasurer of Bath Mind since 1983 and remember writing the accounts in a big red ledger, before the introduction of computers. My interest in mental health started even longer ago, as my mother suffered from mental illnesss and I realised that many families are touched by it although it's often misunderstood and the right help is sometimes hard to find. I feel that balancing the books is my contribution to Bath Mind's work in making life better for people with mental health issues.
I'm Janice Walsh and I've been a trustee for Bath Mind since 2014.
I joined the organisation because I have personal experience of mental health issues, having suffered from OCD and associated anxiety and depression since I was 16 years old. My partner has been a huge support to me but I'm one of the lucky ones, not everyone has a family member or friend to help them through the tough times. I've worked for the voluntary sector for the last three years, so I bring to the Board an understanding of working for a small charity and the challenges they face. I love nature, I'm a keen gardener and I do whatever I can to help the bumble bees. If I'm not enjoying the outdoors then I can usually be found reading about it. Oh and just between you and me I also do a bit of ballet!
Hi I'm Jeremy Simpson
Hi I'm Molly Conisbee and I work for the University of Bristol.
Prior to that I whad a number of communications, policy and think tank jobs, including working for the new economics foundation (nef), IPPR and Soil Association as Director of Communications and Campaigns.
Hi I'm Mat Owen and I've been involved with Bath Mind for 8 years, starting as a volunteer advocate then was elected as a trustee, more recently the current Chair. My expertise is in the areas of disability and equality issues, as well as having lived experience of mental health.
My Chair duties means I have to keep up to date with the various elements and aspects of the charity and represent Bath Mind at some events.
Often seen in a hat, it's rumoured I'm fuelled by coffee which may or may not be connected with my satirical nature.
Hi I'm Richard Ellis and I have worked as a solicitor in Bath for over 20 years. I currently run the family team at Withy King and specialise in child care work, although over the years I have also carried out criminal work and represented clients at mental health review tribunals. It was the result of this work that I became involved in Bath Mind and was Chair of the trustees for a number of years until February 2016.
I have a keen interest in advocacy and representing the interests of people who for whatever reason are unable to represent themselves. I am also a trustee of Soundwell Music Therapy Trust.
Outside of work I like to spend time with my family, watch criket, listen to music and follow my beloved Stoke City.
