About us
Bath Mind was set up in 1973 as a Local Mind
Association affiliated to
Mind and is
an independent registered charity governed by
volunteer Trustees who make up the Committee of
Management. Most of the services we deliver are
commissioned by Bath and North East Somerset
Council or funded by grants and public
donations.
Bath Mind is staffed by paid workers and
volunteers. Volunteers are an important element
of the Bath Mind workforce and are used to
augment and compliment our delivery of services.

Our vision is of a society that promotes and
protects good mental health for all and that
treats people with experience of mental distress
fairly, positively and with respect. (Download

Bath Mind Vision, Mission and Values statement.)
Bath Mind is committed to quality throughout
the organisation and the services it provides.
It maintains this commitment through active
participation in the national Quality Management
in Mind assessment system. In addition, Bath
Mind's advocacy service holds the Community
Legal Services Quality Mark for general help
with casework in the following 8 categories:
welfare/benefits, housing, debt,
consumer/general, health & community care,
disability, older people, race equality.
Supporting People have also awarded Bath Mind a
Certificate of Accreditation.
We work in partnership with Mind and other
Local Mind Associations to provide information
and support; and campaign to improve policy and
attitudes.
Bath Mind operates inside the boundaries of
Bath and North East Somerset and provides
several advocacy, housing, day service &
training services.
The needs and experiences of people with
mental distress drive our work and we ensure
that they are involved at every level of our
organisation, from the strategic (Committee of
Management) to the operational (employees and
volunteers). Clients and tenants provide
systematic feedback that informs service
planning and delivery. (Download Bath Mind's
Strategic Plan 2010-13.)
Bath Mind accepts self-referrals from people
age 18 plus, as well as those from Social
Services, Mental Health Teams, General
Practitioners, hospitals, other voluntary sector
organisations, families and carers. |
